HOME UPDATE
BIRTHDAYS – Two of our girls turned a year older this month. Charity turned 17 years while Purity turned 18 years old, and they are both excited.
SCHOOLS – Schools have been scheduled to open on January 24th, 2021, and preparations for those reporting on the mentioned date have been done. On the other hand, results are out, Linto and Austin made it to 10th grade while Charity made it to the 8th grade.
JANUARY 2022 KWATHU FREE HAVEN SCHOOL REPORT
In January, schools opened on the 24th. During the first week of opening the students were reporting with lots of expectations. Most of the students were going to a new grade.
Activities done were mostly clearing the surrounding and cleaning the classrooms.
We recorded 100% pass rate for 7th grade.
Maintenance work was also done. Each door of every classroom was worked on and given padlocks. Desks and bookracks were also worked on to provide comfort to the learners.
The baby class, reception, and first grade were all enrolled and are still going on. There was normal learning while adhering to the covid 19 guidelines.
DONATIONS– This month we received perishable food items from Shoprite-Livingstone.
VOLUNTEERS– In the month of January, we had to say goodbye to our volunteer of three months from Germany. Phillip Eversmann made a huge contribution towards our works here and was involved in several activities.
CLINIC PROJECT– The clinic work is still on going and we are busy finishing the toilets and installing concrete floors.
KWATHU FARMS– November went by quickly as there were plenty of small projects concerning building of the farmhouse. The following are small projects we pursued and now completed:
- Roofing of the farmhouse together with ridges
- Plastering inside and outside the house
- Fitting of the main security doors
- Fitting in window seals and reviews
- Fitting in glass panes, handles and stays on all the windows
- Building of the septic tank and installing a second water tank stand
All these works have been done bringing the house construction to 90% to date.
