Feeding Program

“I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing.” – Genesis 12:2

Sharing with our surrounding community is a blessing. We are blessed, and in return can be a blessing. As we read in Matthew, Jesus fed multitudes who came to hear Him preach the Gospel, with only 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish.

Jesus replied, “They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat.” “We have here only five loaves of bread and two fish,” they answered. “Bring them here to me,” he said. And he directed the people to sit down on the grass. Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves. Then he gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the people. They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over. The number of those who ate was about five thousand men, besides women and children. – Matthew 14:16-21

Kwathu Ministries desires to emulate Matthew 14 through the community feeding program, encouraging, loving and caring for the less fortunate, providing meals and spiritual nourishment, ensuring that no one leaves hungry.

We need all hands on deck to help develop and grow a nation. Kwathu Ministries strives to care for their surrounding community in its own little way. Kwathu Ministries hosts a weekly feeding program, Monday – Thursday, as an external effort to reach out to the community with an emphasis on children under 15 years of age. Currently, 185 children from Kwathu Free Haven and approximately 40 – 50 children from the surrounding community receive a meal, daily, through the feeding program. Kwathu also uses this time to encourage and reach the community mothers and children through the Word of God, prayer and children’s activities.

It is our desire to involve mothers within the community in the preparation of the meals and other activities, as the program grows, to develop a sense of belonging and responsibility within the hearts of each mother.

Weekly, over 2,100 meals are provided for through the feeding program. We are so thankful for such an opportunity as these children form a large part of the community.

A monthly contribution of $850 provides 250 children with 2 meals a day, and covers wages for two cooks.
