HOME UPDATE
BIRTHDAYS– This month only Eustus celebrated his birthday on the July 14th. He turned 20 years old. Eustus was so excited to grow a year older and he celebrated it in style.
Eustus is at the University Studying Economics. It is our hope that every child who leaves Kwathu is able to stand on their own and able to support other people who are less privileged in his/her community.
SCHOOLS– The month of July was the month when the school term ends. Our children sat for the end of term exams on the July 20th to 26th. Most of our children did well in school performances only a few need to catch up in a number of subjects especially mathematics and English.
EXTRA ACTIVITY– The Kwathu Children started a backyard garden with the help of the administration. Gardening is going well. Other than playtime, walks for the toddlers with the Mamas has continued. Devotion is going on fine, and all the kids are participating fully and improving on attitudes, spiritual and general behavior reordering.
HEALTH– All the kids are enjoying good health besides the toddlers who seem to have allergies once in a while.
VISITATIONS– As much as, the parents and relatives of the children are encouraged to keep the bond with the children here at Kwathu, as this makes it easy during reintegration when children have reached 18 years old, unfortunately many do not come.
KWATHU SCHOOL REPORT– The month of July was the month when schools closed. Students started their end of term exams on the July 20th-26th and closed on July 28th. On the July 29th parents came to collect the report progress books of their children.
The school is still looking for a school sponsor who will help in paying monthly salaries of teachers since Kwathu Free Haven School is providing education to children within the community for free of charge. Hoping and praying a sponsor comes through this coming term so that the school will continue running and operating.
PROGRESS ON FARM– The farm is moving in the right direction. Two fishponds are done, and we have already put 3,500 fingerings in one fishpond, and will soon also do the same on the other fishpond. The plan is to have four fishponds at the farm, and with this we will have a huge harvest. 13 goats were delivered to the farm, planting of crops and different vegetables has started, and we are putting another small house.
Older Children visiting Kwathu Helping Farm– The month of July we took the older children at the farm and staff members to celebrate the progress we have made. The children were so excited and happy to see how far the farm has come along.
