MAY 2024 UPDATE

HOME UPDATE:

BIRTHDAYS- In the month of May, our calendar was filled with several wonderful birthdays for our children! Obert celebrated his 18th birthday on the May 3rd, 2024. Abraham turned 14 on of May 4th, 2024. Joshua celebrated turning 12 on the May 20th, 2024. Richard had his 14th birthday on May 25th, 2024, and Mapalo’s 14th birthday was on the May 26th. 2024.During May, we made sure to celebrate these special milestones in our children’s lives with a joyous and memorable celebration.

KWATHU TEENS OUTING- During the school break in May, we made the decision to take our teenagers on a leisurely stroll to the renowned Kazungula Bridge, a significant landmark shared between Zambia and Botswana. The children were filled with excitement and joy throughout the journey.

SCHOOLS- Schools reopened on May 6th, 2024, for the second term. The children were so eager and excited to head back to school after their short break.

KWATHU SCHOOL REPORT:

On the May 6th, 2024, we eagerly welcomed our students back as the second term of the academic year commenced. Our joy knew no bounds as we reunited with our enthusiastic learners, embracing the exciting journey that lay ahead in their educational pursuit.

SCHOOL EXPANSION PROJECT:

The school building project progressed smoothly in May, with the completion of the roofing stage by the builders. The following tasks remain to be completed: wiring the building, installing window frames, plastering and flooring, fitting windows and doors, installing the ceiling board and painting the building.

COMMUNITY FEEDING PROGRAM

In the month of May, we effectively advanced our community initiative by delivering nourishing meals to 25 households, thereby benefiting a total of 100 individuals. These households are grappling with financial challenges, making it hard for them to procure three meals daily. This benevolent gesture occurs regularly every Friday at midday.

PERIOD POVERTY CAMPAIGN

In the month of May, our organization collaborated with the Key Foundation to address the issue of period poverty within our community. Our joint initiative focused on educating school going girls about menstrual hygiene practices. As a result of this partnership, we were able to distribute more than 500 sanitary pads to support these girls in managing their menstrual health effectively.

EMPOWERMENT

When discussing empowerment, our primary goal is to utilize all available resources to enhance the welfare and standard of living of individuals within our community. During the month, we supported an elderly woman by providing a modest investment for her fritters business venture.

PURITY CLASS FOR GIRLS AND BOYS

At Kwathu Community Purity Project, our mission revolves around the steadfast promotion of purity and the cultivation of a deep spiritual relationship with God throughout our community. We are wholeheartedly committed to ensuring that our initiatives transcend gender boundaries, reaching both girls and boys, as we firmly advocate for the spiritual enrichment and growth of all individuals via the Community Purity Project.

CLINIC PROJECT

With the clinic project, we were advised by the Health Professionals Council of Zambia to construct three more additional consultations rooms in order to comply with the government’s requirements. The construction is currently in progress.

KWATHU FARM

We successfully sold 125 out of our total of 130 chickens, with 5 experiencing mortalities. Additionally, we supplied various vegetables to homes and feeding programs. Also, one of our goats recently gave birth to two adorable baby goats. and our current crops at the farm include tomatoes, watermelons, cabbage, onions, and more.

OUR NEEDS:

  • School bus (US $20,000)
  • Pencils, crayons, sharpeners, calculators, pens, etc.
  • Clothes for ages 2 to 6
  • 2-ton trailer for Kwathu Farm
