AUGUST 2024 UPDATE

KWATHU HOME

In the lovely month of August, we joyfully sent most of our children residing in the home off for holidays to foster strong family connections. The children were bubbling with excitement as they prepared to visit their relatives during the short school break. During the term break, the home was noticeably quieter as the majority of the children embarked on their holiday adventures. It has been a tradition during school breaks to reunite the children with their families, nurturing the precious bond between the children and their relatives.

For those who stayed behind, we meticulously planned a myriad of engaging indoor and outdoor activities to ensure they had an enjoyable time.

KWATHU SCHOOL

The school closed for the second term on August 1st, 2024, to evaluate the students’ progress. On August 2nd, 2024, parents were invited to collect their children’s progress reports and engage with teachers to inquire about their child’s progress.

COMMUNITY FEEDING PROGRAM – We are happy to share that the feeding program for the community extended throughout the month of August. We express our gratitude to God for continuously providing so we can reach out and support others in need. This program benefits twenty-five households, which is a total of one hundred individuals in our community. Our dedication is to prioritize the health and nourishment of all these individuals. The distribution of meals takes place every Friday to ensure everyone receives the support they need.

VOLUNTEER PROGRAM- We were thrilled to welcome Metter BuurHot, our volunteer from Denmark, on August 21st. She will be a valuable member of the Kwathu team for the next three months, assisting in various organization activities. We are grateful to have her with us and look forward to the positive impact she will bring to the team!

KWATHU CLINIC

This month, we were thrilled to share that we made significant progress on our clinic project. We were able to resume work on all three consultation rooms, which included plastering the rooms and fitting door frames and window frames. We are excited about the continued progress and look forward to the next steps in completing this project.

KWATHU FARM

In August, we took the time to plant a variety of crops on our farm. Some of the plants we put in the ground included okra, maize, and watermelons. Additionally, we were able to attend to the health of our animals by vaccinating twenty-five goats and three sheep. It is always rewarding to see the fruits of our labor grow and to ensure the well-being of our livestock.
