January {Gratitude}

Highlight & BirthdayImage

On January 20th Purity turned 9! We threw her a surprise birthday party; she had no idea it was coming! Lots of cupcakes, soft drinks, and sweets filled her day. After dancing and playing she picked out a princess movie to watch. Purity just so happens to be our highlight child this month; we have seen a change in her attitude lately and it’s been an awesome thing to witness. She’s been very polite and slower to get upset about something that would usually bother her very quickly. We are proud of her as she keeps growing into a lovely young lady!

Saturdays

Every Saturday morning we have a time of devotion with the kids around 8:30. We learn about one topic for a month. January is gratitude. The definition is ‘letting others know you see how they have helped you’ and the memory verse is 1 Thessalonians 5:18 which says ‘Give thanks in all circumstances for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.’ It’s a great time that we spend as family, praying and learning about Jesus together.

Updates

The kids started school on the 2nd of January and are having a good time; they like holiday but they really like learning at school. We are happy to say that all twelve of them are staying at the school that is close to our home. If you are interested in sponsoring a child please contact us at kwathuoffice@gmail.com and we will gladly answer any questions you may have.

Prayer Requests

  • This year we asked the Lord to help us choose a verse for each child; we’ll be praying this verse over them every day. Pray for Purity. This is her verse:
    Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry. James 1:19
  • The provision of the children’s school fees for the next two terms; for people’s hearts to be moved to sponsor or give a one-time donation.
  • That the children apply what they learn on Saturday mornings to their daily life and grow in love and harmony with one another.
  • For divine appointments for the Phiris while they are in Germany; that new relationships would form and hearts would be moved to do something for Kwathu.
