EDUCATION.

The Kwathu children have continued attending school. Mamas on duty, our visiting volunteer from Sweden and other staff always spare their time to assist them with their homework.

SUPPORT

Firstly, a couple living within the community has continued to bless Kwathu Children’s Home with some cabbages. Another local donated some vegetables and tomatoes, and from the Social Welfare Livingstone office we received 4 boxes of dates. All of these gifts have been most welcome! It’s really a joy and blessing to have some locals getting involved to love, support and care for these children at Kwathu.

HEALTH

Kwathu Children’s Home took time to educate and sensitize the children on Drug Use and Abuse. This included definitions of what a drug is, what different types there are, how drug abuse affects your health and how to avoid becoming a victim of drug abuse. ‘The best way to protect a child is to empower them to protect themselves”

We also had a lesson on the significance of Family. During this lesson the kids interacted to let us know how they view the concept of family, and we talked to them about the importance of respect, love and care within a family to ensure stability in one’s day-to-day life.

VOLUNTEERS

During the month of October, Kwathu Children’s Home welcomed two volunteers who will be serving at Kwathu for some time. Linnéa is a Swedish girl who will be working for a period of three months (October to December 2013), and Natalie has come from South Africa to be with us at Kwathu for a period of two years. We are looking forward to working with the ladies and seeing them bless the children.

WELFARE

Kwathu Director Mr. Agrippa Phiri left for Germany to meet with his family and to work with our partners based there. We wish him a pleasant trip!

SOCIAL

On the 24th of October, Zambia celebrated 49 years as an independent state. At Kwathu the children celebrated Independece Day playing different games, for example a quiz with questions about Zambia and the independence. They all did very well, and we were very impressed! After the games the children got to enjoy delicious scones baked by Mama Josephine, which was much appreciated.

One of the local hostels was kind enough to let us use their pool free of charge on of the hot days this month, which we very much enjoyed! All the kids had a lot of fun playing in the water, some practicing their swimming, some trying to learn how to float in the water and some just splashing and jumping around. The kids were so well-behaved and respectful to all the other people around the pool. In fact one man from Austria came up and expressed how he wished that his kids from home could come and see how exemplary the kids behaved. It was a day to be proud of our Kwathu children!

We are also happy to announce that Kwathu is now on twitter! Please follow us on @KwathuHome.

Please continue praying with us on these requests:

Funding for the 5 bed roomed house. We need to raise US$ 3000 for the remaining 3 block layer on the big house to conclude all brick work. Then we can start working on the roof which needs in total US$ 17,000.

Pray for courage, faith and understanding that we can accomplish the goals we set for Kwathu and that the children can live grow and mature in His daily goodness and loving kindness.

Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb is a reward. Psalm 127:3.

We Thank You All For Your Continued Love and Support Towards Kwathu Children’s Home May The Good Lord Continue Blessing You!
