JANUARY 2014 UPDATE!

WE WISH YOU ALL A HAPPY AND PRODUCTIVE NEW YEAR!

EDUCATION

After having a wonderful holiday, the children all reported back to school on the 6th of January 2014. The Children were really excited to go back to school as they are all in new grades this year and looking forward to learning new things. We wish them well for this term and hoping that they will continue to keep up the good work.

SUPPORT

Green Valley Farm, based in Livingstone, has faithfully continued to support Kwathu Children’s Home with a variety of vegetables on a weekly basis.

Happy Africa also blessed Kwathu Children’s Home with some tooth brushes and tooth paste this month.

We are so grateful for the continued growing support from the local Community in caring for these dear Children.

Furthermore, on 18th of January a team from Grace Klein Community, Birmingham, Alabama arrived in Livingstone to bless Kwathu Children`s Home with associated items. The team also assisted with the progress of the land project. We cannot thank them enough for all their hard work and dedication.

??????????

The Kwathu Market has been revived as a way raising financial support for the project .We are hopeful that this market will continue to expand. All proceeds go to the Kwathu Children’s Home land project, so if you happen to purchase one of our items know that you are playing a vital roll in providing a new home for our children.

SPIRITUAL

As Kwathu Children’s Home is a Christian faith-based home we have continued to share the word of God with our children through worship and devotions. During this month we focused on the subject of Jesus being the bread of life and the text scriptures were read from John 6:1-14, 22-35, 66-71 and our memory verse was from John 6:35.This subject will be continued in the first week of February. Our children have also continued to attend church every Sunday which they really enjoy.

SOCIAL

On the 1st of January we had a big family lunch, our loving and caring mamas prepared a delicious meal which was greatly appreciated. The children were also blessed with the opportunity to light up fireworks to celebrate the new year.

Birthdays at Kwathu Children`s Home are always special days filled with so much joy and happy memories. On the 4th of January Natalie, one of the Volunteers at Kwathu Children’s Home, celebrated her birthday. During this time the children took time writing lovely birthday cards for her and Mama Josephine baked her a special cake.

Purity also celebrated her birthday this month. Purity turned 10 years old on 20th of January. It was a lovely day to remember for the Kwathu Family as both Mr and Mrs Phiri were part of the celebration as well as our visiting team from Grace Klein Community. It was so much fun for everyone. Not only did we enjoy the cake and other yummy treats, but the children had the opportunity to learn some new games and had such a fun day! What made it so exciting was that all the children, the Grace Klein Community team, the volunteers, the staff and the  Kwathu Directors were all part of these games and activities. The children had such a wonderful time.

WELFARE

It has been a good and exciting new a year for Kwathu Children‘s Home. Many thanks to Tandeka, the Children were so happy and excited to receive new clothing and some Christmas gifts. All these gifts were greatly appreciated by the children.

VOLUNTEERS

On 24th of January we welcomed two volunteers from Germany. Jenny and Katrin who are both qualified social workers, will be at Kwathu  Children’s Home for a period of three weeks. We are looking forward to working with them.

LAND UPDATE

During this month most work has greatly progressed at the building site. Mr Agrippa Phiri, the Director of Kwathu Children’s Home has been on the ground trying to ensure that work is done according to plan.

To begin with, early this month Kwathu local constructors started building the 3 brick layer which has been successfully completed in readiness for erecting the roof. All this was made possible by the financial support we received from a Canadian Couple Bob and Marilyn.

Land Update

Peter, Allan and Emmanuel have also been involved in the digging of holes in which to place the poles for the fence, the laying of the concrete in order for the poles to hold, as well as the painting of the poles. Further on they began putting up the fence and the work was concluded with the help of the Grace Klein Community team from Birmingham, Alabama who are also partners of Kwathu. In total they used roughly 9 rolls of the wire fence. All this was made possible by the financial support from Grace Klein Community and their man power. It is awesome to see people willing to share God’s Love with others.

In addition, the Grace Klein team participated in the painting of the wooden timber with some preservatives in order  to protect the timber from decay and placing them in position in readiness for roofing. Sadly the Grace Klein team left Zambia on 28th of January. We were sad to see them go, but we are incredibly grateful for all their assistance, love and their support. We extend our sincere gratitude to Grace Klein, Tandeka, Bob and Marilyn for their support. We give God all the glory!

Philippians 1vs 6: “God is the one who began this good work in you, and I am certain he won’t stop before it is complete on the day that Christ Jesus returns.”

Please continue praying with us on these requests:

1. Funding for a 16 seater bus (preferably diesel) that would assist us in transporting our children to and from school daily.

2. Continue praying for courage faith and understanding that we can accomplish the goals we set for Kwathu and that the children can live grow and mature in his daily goodness and loving Kindness.

“Testimony”

We having been praying about finishing the final 3 block layer on the main building, building a fence around the property, as well as funding for a roof for the building. We thank you for all your prayers as the final 3 block layer on the main building has been completed, the fence around the property has also been completed, and the roof in currently in progress! How great is our God!

Psalm 127:3“Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord; the fruit of the womb is a reward.
