July Update 2014

Education

School holidays are fast approaching and our children are currently busy with the last two weeks of revision before the school closes for a fun filled three week holiday.

Social

We celebrated the lives of two of our teenage boys, Eustus and Willard, who both turned 13 years old this month. We celebrated with a combined birthday party for the boys on Saturday the 12th of July.

The boys were blessed to share their birthday with a visiting team from Global Challenge Expeditions, who are based in Jeffrey’s bay, South Africa; the men in the team prayed a special blessing over the lives of our two birthday boys. The party was filled with fun and games, and the boys even prepared a dance for the visiting team.

As a tradition, an unexpected bucket of water is thrown over the birthday boy/girl on their birthday. The home was buzzing with laughter after team members of the visiting team surprised the boys with buckets filled with water when they were least expecting it. These were such priceless moments which will always be remembered.

Support

This month has certainly been a month filled with blessings from above.

Envest Kalonga Banana Farm blessed our children with a large number of bananas this month, and Green Valley Farm, based in Livingstone, has also continued to provide our children with a variety of fresh vegetables on a weekly basis.

The team from Global Challenge Expeditions blessed our children with a variety of clothing items and shoes. We were also blessed with a special visit from Christ Presbyterian Church, Huntington Beach, California, as well as a surprise visit from a small team, originally from the United States of America, who provided us with Mealie Meal, rice, oil and sugar.

We also had a visiting team from The Barn Christian Fellowship Church, based in Jeffrey’s bay, South Africa this month. They blessed our children with both fun and special times of worship and devotion during their time here in Zambia.

Once again, we are incredibly grateful for the growing support of both the local and international community in providing and caring for our children.

Land Update

A lot of progress has taken place at the property this month, and we give all the Glory to Father God for His hand of provision.

The main gate at the entrance of the new Kwathu Children’s Home property has been completed thanks to the financial support of Tandeka e.V, Augsburg, Germany.

On the 1st of July 2014 the visiting team from The Barn Christian Fellowship church provided for, and painted the first layer of undercoat on the outside of the main building.

Between the 9th and the 11th of July the visiting team from Global Challenge Expeditions provided for, and completed the painting on the outside of the main building. They also prepared the walls on the inside of the main building and painted both layers of undercoat. The team also assisted us in placing the paving in front of the small house.

We are very grateful for the continued support from The Barn Christian Fellowship church as well as Global Challenge Expeditions, as for the last number of years they have continued to bless us with a visiting teams, who have come to assist and serve at the home on an annual basis.

Please continue praying with us on these requests:

  • Funding for a 10 to 16 seater Bus (preferably Diesel) that would help us transport our children to and from school, as well as for the use of administration purposes. At present, some of our children are walking about 10km to and from school on a daily basis.
  • Pray with us for financial support for the remaining stages of the main house (Plumbing, flooring, painting, the ceiling and the doors)
  • Continue praying for courage, faith and understanding that we can accomplish the goals we set for Kwathu and that the children can live, grow and mature in Gods daily goodness and loving kindness. We thank you all for your continued love and support towards Kwathu Children’s Home and may the Lord continue to bless you!
