BIRTHDAYS
Gertrude and Sophia. The girls decided to combine their birthday celebrations to happen on neutral days. Gertrude’s day was on the 11th while Sophia’s was on the 14th .
Mama Juliana celebrated her birthday on the 20th.
The 24th of March was Tr. Matambo’s birthday. Her class sung a birthday song for her.
The month was concluded with Aunt Gertrude’s birthday which fell on the 28th of March. We give God the glory for blessing everyone with an extra year in life. Be blessed!!
KWATHU’S WELFARE
Kwathu Children’s Home had our departmental quarterly review/ planning meeting chaired by our Directors (Agrippa & Jeanette).
Our agenda was to give a short briefing on how the last quarter has been in each department. These included achievements, challenges and suggestions on how to overcome the challenges and become more effective.
We can confidently say we are in the right path.
Proverbs 16:9 “A man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps.”
EASTER CELEBRATION
Easter is the time Christians remember the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. We believe that Jesus died for everyone’s sins and He came back to life three days later having defeated death and evil.
Kwathu Children’s Home celebrated the day Jesus arose from the dead after the Crucifixion.
Matthew 28:6 “He is not here; He has risen, just as He said. Come and see the place where He lay.”
The day was packed with a number of activities such as dances, games and Bible stories.
We thank Joy Ministries through Pastor Brian for the spiritual support towards the event.
Happy Easter!
EDUCATION
Kwathu Free Haven School has so far run smoothly in this year’s 1st quarter. The children are adapting well with the Zambian curriculum of education. The pupils completed their midterm tests and their performance was impressive. The teachers are still doing assessments to ensure each child is in the right grade and is performing well. They will soon start writing their end of term test as they prepare for their short end of term holiday
DONATIONS
James and Meagan Hitchins donated some concrete tiles to Kwathu Children’s Home. We then made a path for the Kwathu Free Haven pupils to use on their way from class to the feeding shelter. The kids are so excited to use the path in a single file.
We really thank you and appreciate your donation!!
The work of setting up the path wouldn’t have been easy without the help of Gina, Tasha, Don, James and Anita. Great work guys! And thanks for making Kwathu look pretty.
COMMUNITY OUTREACH
This week, our members of staff did some home visitations to a couple of families within the Kwathu Community. We are committed to being part of the community and as well as knowing the people around us.
Most of the families we visited are those of the Kwathu Free Haven pupils. It is important for us to know where the children are coming from and their conditions of living. We also want to create a relationship not only with the children but with their families as well.
This also gives us an insight of certain children’s behaviour and how best we can help them become better people in the society. Indeed there are some sad stories from some families and wherever we can, we will definitely help.
Big thanks to Situmbeko, Pastor Brian and Naomi for sparing their time to visit these families.
