July Word Of Encouragement

1 John 5:14

“This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.”

Birthday Celebrations

We were so privileged to share quality time with our dear ones during their birthday’s. Here at Kwathu, birthdays are really important days, reminding us to celebrate each and everyone’s life every day. Precious lives we celebrated.

Kwathu Welfare

The Kwathu children have continued attending school and within this week they begin to write their end of term exams. We would like to take this time to wish our lovely children best wishes for their exams.

Many thanks goes out to the house mothers, our visiting volunteers and staff members who continue to spare their time in assisting the children with their homework.

Speaking along the lines of school, we are still in need of sponsorship for the children. If you or a couple of friends would like to sponsor a child please let us know. Know that by choosing to become a school sponsor, you are making solid, life changing impact; providing children the gift of an education, teaching them to learn well and grow into adults that will someday strengthen those around them.

Kwathu’s Christian Values

We strongly believe in bringing up our children in the fear of the Lord. All our activities and teachings are biblically founded. We truly want our children to grow in the fear of the Lord. We train them to respect, love, and be kind to one another. Children at Kwathu devote themselves every evening to prayer, thanks giving, reading, understanding and share Gods word. With God, it is easy to love each and every one of our children.

Volunteers

YWAM

At the beginning of July, Kwathu was very blessed by a visit from Youth with a Mission (YWAM,) a ministry based in Cape Town, South Africa. YWAM is a discipleship/leadership program oriented around travel adventures.

During their journey in different countries, they committed two weeks to serving at Kwathu. In addition to completing work projects during the day, they had unending energy to play with the children & help them with their homework as they come from school.

Throughout the weeks, the team looked for needs they could meet at Kwathu. The team also shared the word of God and prayed for some community members through community outreach.

Sports in Action (SIA)

Kwathu community school was not left out in the share of visits. A group of students studying drama in the United Kingdom  came to spend some quality time with the community children from Kwathu Community school. During their visit, they were classroom assistants, assisting the teachers deliver their lessons. During their free time, they played different games with the children. We treasure the two weeks they spent with us and we look forward to them coming to visit us again.

Carla

We continue to be thankful to our volunteers who travel from far places to take their time and dedicate their time in supplementing our efforts in caring for our dear children. Thank you Carla for travelling all the way from Switzerland to Kwathu just to be of service. The kids loved her company and she has definitely built a relationship with them. It is sad she could only spend a few weeks with us, but we truly appreciate her sacrifice.

Coralline

All the way from Switzerland, we would like to welcome Coralline to Kwathu Children’s Home. She will be with us for two weeks before she returns. So far during her one week stay, she has been highly involved with Kwathu Free Haven school as she is a professional teacher. She has also visited homes around the Kwathu community through our Community Outreach Program.

Aileen

It was an amazing three weeks that we spent with Aileen. She spent her time serving and helping out at Kwathu Home. Her basic responsibilities were: Recreation with the toddlers, helping out at the feeding program, and helping with the weekly shopping.

It is so inspiring to see this young lady’s desire and willingness to travel across the world by herself to be of service to the children and the needy in our community.

We love you and thank you so much.

Community Activities

Girl talk with the Community school Girls

The older girls at Kwathu Community School had a girls talk with Mama Sue and Aunt Naomi. The female members of staff explained and taught the girls about maturity and physical body changes. They further taught them how to keep themselves clean and really emphasized on personal hygiene.

The girls were each given sanitary items as a way to promote their teachings.

Home Visitations

During the last week of July, the YWAM team, Kwathu staff, Carla and Coralline joined hands with home visitations in different homes around our community. It was a life changing experience for each and everyone who visited these homes. We were able to share the Word of God, encourage families, as well as pray for them. Most of the families visited willingly asked for prayer as they were sick or just heavily burdened.

Nothing gave so much happiness to the group than being able to pray with these families. Indeed you can tell that the harvest is plenty but the laborers are few. People are really in need of God. We also shared a little present with each family visited, bringing much joy to their faces.

Thank you team for being soldiers of Christ!!!

Kwathu Community School

Like any other government school in Zambia, Kwathu Community School is preparing its pupils for the end of term exams. It has been indeed a bust and successful term. We pray that the children remember everything they were taught.
