Greetings from Kwathu Children’s Home
August Word Of Encouragement
Ezra 7:10 King James Version (KJV)
“For Ezra had prepared his heart to seek the law of the Lord, and to do it, and to teach in Israel statutes and judgments.”
Birthday Celebrations
Your birth is the beginning of your life. God created you to serve a purpose in this world. Every time you have a birthday, it is an indication that you still have work to do for the Kingdom of God. Your birthday is a sign that you have another chance to fulfill your unique mission. It is for this reason we celebrated the following birthdays.
Kwathu Welfare
This August has been a month of rest and fun activities for the Kwathu kids. They had closed for their second term holiday. Some fun activities were lined up for them during this period.
Boys Camp and Chill Outs
Our boys are growing into fine young men. They are finding greater understanding on how things work with regards to real life issues and maturity. Soon they will start making tough decisions in life. For sure, all this can be done with proper grooming and guidance.
Our older boys recently attended a 3 day camp at Samba land within Livingstone. These three days allowed the boys to talk about different issues pertaining to their spiritual and physical growth. Pastor Brian facilitated this activity alongside Uncle Allan. The theme of the camp was: Having Self Value as a Man.
We are so excited that the boys could have some time out together to strengthen their bonds… and while at the camp, they helped uncle Justine with some gardening and other chores.
Later that weekend, the boys went out for a swim as it is becoming hot in Livingstone.
Girls Time Out
The girls were not left out. They had some fun at the Royal Livingstone lodge and later ended their day by having dinner at the Zambezi Café. They were accompanied by Auntie Gertrude, Auntie Naomi and Auntie Hayley. They all enjoyed their time out and definitely cant wait for a similar activity.
Achievements!!!
It is with so much pride that we Congratulate Austin for successfully obtaining 2nd POSITION in the Primary Science Innovation Category at the 2018 Junior Engineers, Technicians and Scientist (JETS) Fair held at Kitwe College of Education, Copperbelt Province from 12th – 17th August 2018.
He was representing his school and the Southern ‘A’ Region at the National level. We are so proud of this young man for what he has achieved and we pray that he continues with the same spirit.
Congratulations to Edward Musole and Situmbeko Sitondo for successfully completing their two weeks training on Trauma and Healing play. Thank you so much to Regina who facilitated the training as well as organization 12 Twelve Hope.
We believe that the skills attained by our colleagues will help us make Kwathu Ministry a safe and trauma free environment.
Health
18th August was a very special day at Kwathu where the health of children was at the centre.
Overall, we gave out more than 200 childrens toothbrushes, toothpaste and dental floss. We were able to provide all the necessary vitamins and medicine.
A special thanks go to Shelby and Carsyn all the way from the United States, who organized everything. Thanks to your medical expertise, all children of the neighborhood had the opportunity to be treated if necessary and learned about health and hygiene.
Thank you to all other helpers and supporters who made this event possible.
Volunteers
