February 2021 Newsletter

BIRTHDAYS – This month we celebrated Rozaria’s 15th birthday on the 1st of February 2021. Rozaria has grown into a humble and cheerful teenager and keen to learn more.

SCHOOLS – Children that wrote their examinations last year have qualified to new grades. Rhodiah is now in grade 8, and Rosaria, Obet and Purity are now in grade 10. The children are in various secondary schools. Eustus and Getrude have successfully completed their secondary school education and obtained full academic certificates. Eustus aspires to be a Lawyer and Gertrude a Teacher. The rest of the children are excited to be in new grades after opening school on the 1st of February 2021.

KWATHU SCHOOL REPORT

The month of February has been an interesting month for everyone at the school. After the closure of schools in December 2020, the official opening of all schools in Zambia was on the 1st of February 2021. Upon opening, the turn out of the learners was quite impressive as a number of them came to report after the long holidays.

PHOTOS OF PUPILS ON THE OPENING DAY

The opening of schools was good for all learners as they thought they would not resume their normal learning as planned. A week after opening, the feeding program for the school began and this was their daily wish. Pupils at the school are delighted to have their meal when they are at school. Learning on a empty stomach can be difficult. The children’s love for learning continues to grow and a full tummy helps them focus. All thanks go to the sponsors of the feeding program at the school.

PUPILS DURING FEEDING TIME

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING WITH THE PARENTS.

On the 12th of February 2021, the school had a general meeting where all the parents of the learners were invited to come. During the meeting, several issues were discussed of which one of them was the graduation ceremony that the school will have for the outgoing grade 7 pupils and reception class learners going into grade one the following year.

DONATIONS

In the period under review, we received a donation of assorted clothes and other items from Bread of Life Church through the Compassion Ministry. We are so grateful to everyone who gave so willingly and freely to the welfare of the children that we are caring for. Our storeroom has been empty because all the things where given out to the children both in the home and school.

Also, we were so privileged to receive apples from Madam Carim, a generous lady from within Livingstone. They say one apple a day will keep the doctor away.

CLINIC PROJECT

The clinic project has continued to progress stage by stage. In the month of February we managed to put a roof and complete the plumbing works. It is our hope that this project will finish in good time so that we can start offering health services to our children in the school and the home and also the surrounding community.
