JULY 2023 UPDATE

BIRTHDAYS – In July, only Eustus celebrated his birthday on the 14th, marking his 21st year.

SCHOOLS – July marked the end of the school term when our children faced their end-of-term exams. Most of our students performed well, but a few need extra support, especially in Mathematics and English.

EXTRA ACTIVITIES – The Kwathu Children initiated a backyard garden project with the assistance of our administration, and it’s progressing smoothly. Our toddlers continue to enjoy playtime and strolls with their caregivers. Devotions are going well, with all the kids actively participating and showing improvement in attitudes, spirituality, and general behavior.

HEALTH – All the children are in good health, except for occasional allergies among the toddlers.

VISITATION – We encourage parents and relatives to maintain bonds with the children here at Kwathu. This connection makes reintegration smoother when the children reach 18 years old.

JEROME AND VICKY – We were thrilled to welcome Jerome and Victoria, the children of our Director, Mr. Agrippa Phiri, who flew alone from Germany to Zambia to visit and spend their summer holidays with us. Their presence is a joy, and it helps them develop strong connections with our children.

KWATHU SCHOOL REPORT – Our children had the privilege of visiting the prestigious Livingstone Museum, where they had a unique opportunity to expand their knowledge about captivating historical discoveries and the origins of the human race. Subsequently, we enjoyed quality time at Mukuni Park, engaging in various activities that strengthened the bond between our dedicated teachers and eager pupils.

KWATHU FARM – On a somber note, the cold weather conditions we experienced in July significantly affected the germination of our crops, as depicted in the pictures. Our crops suffered damage due to the low temperatures. The following situation highlights the before and after of our crops affected by the cold weather.
