The month of July has been a busy and fun packed month. A number of activities took place and we thank God for His sufficient Grace that has seen us through this month and we give him all the praise.
We are heading towards the August school holidays and we are busy preparing the holiday plan for the children. They will be involved in so many social and fun activities during the four (4) week holiday.
Social
This month we celebrated 2 special birthdays.
03/07 Willard (16 Years): Willard turned 16 and he is becoming a fine young man.
14/07 Eustis (17 Years): Eustis celebrated his birthday from school. He was so excited to see his Kwathu family come through to wish him a happy birthday. He was glad that he could share his cake with his classmates. Eustis’s school is about 60km from Kwathu Children’s Home.
Sunday, the 9th of July was a different for the older children. They went to the Victoria Falls with volunteers. It was a nice recreational time for them and they had so much fun!!!
On July 22nd the older children went out shopping. Each child was given an equal amount of money as their upkeep/pocket money. They all went shopping and bought assorted items such as body lotions, soap, Vaseline etc. It was great to see the children do their own shopping and differentiate between what they needed and what they wanted.
The children’s playroom is now ready for use. Thanks to Khiêm-Ly, Jade and Arnold for painting the room.Thank you Mama Jeanette, Shelby Yande, Kithand Veronika, for cleaning and organizing the place. You guys are such a great team!!!!
Child Welfare
On July 21st the boys had their first ever ‘Boys to Men Club’ meeting and it was so awesome!!! Our volunteer Tim was the first guest at this meeting, he talked about his childhood life and the challenges he faced as he grew up. It was such an inspiring story and the boys really learned a lot. The Boys to Men Club is a program initiated by Pastor Brian who offers spiritual guidance to the Kwathu children. The main purpose of this club is for the boys to talk about issues that affect them. For example: Peer pressure, identity crisis, anger management, cleanness and hygiene, respect for the opposite sex and to also provide role models.
We pray that this program helps them become responsible men.
Support:
We can’t thank our supporters enough for their support towards Kwathu Children’s Home. Your generosity and kindness encourages us to persevere with a strength that only comes from above.
Joyful Service:
We would like to welcome the following volunteers to Kwathu. We are so glad that you dedicated your time and efforts to come and serve at Kwathu. We really appreciate the value that you bring to the ministry.

Farewell
We are bidding farewell to these volunteers who have been with us for a couple of months. These guys have contributed so much during their stay. We really value the efforts that you put in our day to day life at Kwathu. The numerous tasks that you handle might not have been achieved without your extra effort. We love you so much and we hope to see you soon. Our prayer is that God continues blessing your kind hearts and that He provides for you in your area of need. May God richly bless you.
Tim: Tim has been a very hardworking man. He has done helped so much with maintenance needs on the Kwathu building. He has literally mended anything broken around the home. The surrounding also had a share of his hard work. His passion to see the property neat and clean has encouraged our hearts.
Veronika: This young lady has been so helpful with the feeding program. She was highly involved in cooking Nshima, cutting vegetables, tomatoes, as well as serving the kids. She mingled a lot with the Kwathu kids and they really loved her. The children always called her ‘Auntie Veronika.’ We are so glad that she came to visit and we hope to see her soon.
Kaila: Kaila is a God fearing young lady with a passion to serve God through the Ministry of the Gospel. She came to Kwathu on the 14th of June and was here until the 20th of July 2017. During her stay, Kaila was involved in numerous activities within Kwathu. Because of her passion and love for kids, she related so well with our children and always spent time with the children sharing stories, helping them with home work, bathing the young ones etc. She created a special bond with the kids who always referred to her as ‘Auntie Kaila.’
Kathi: Kathi is Kaila’s mom. She came to visit Kwathu for a few weeks and she really enjoyed her time in Zambia. Her love for kids is as admirable as her daughter’s. She is a kind woman and God fearing. Kathi was involved in community outreach programs and was able to bless a number of families. Thank you Auntie Kathi for the time you shared to be with us.
Carsyn: Auntie Carsyn is a very loving and kind lady. She came to visit us for a couple of weeks. During her stay, she went out to fun places with the older kids and played with the younger ones at home. She told them stories and played games with them. She did a number of outreach programs that gave us a clear indication of her passion to serve the needy. We really appreciate the love you showed us and we cant wait to see you again.
Community Development:
Feeding Program: This is the seventh month that the feeding program has been running and there has been no single day that we have lacked. The Lord has been so faithful to us, he has provided for us and we can indeed call him “Jehovah Jireh.”
Highlands Creative Academy: The school hosted a fundraising boat cruise on the Zambezi River. The aim of the fundraising venture was to raise funds for the construction of the outside toilets for the members of stuff and children. The venture was a total success and we thank everyone who participated, contributed and supported this venture.
Land Update:
The Volunteer/ Staff house is done and some of our staff members and volunteers have already moved in. We are glad that the long awaited occupation is finally here. Thank you all for the support towards the construction of the house.
