Social Activities

December was a packed month of activities, since it was the festive season, we had so many Christmas celebrations, treats and activities.

Wednesday 6th December:  For two of our Kwathu children this day was a very special day: they celebrated their graduation and successfully qualified for the next levels of school. While Willard will attend the 8th grade next year, Nelia will go to the first class. We are very proud of our children and their excellent academic achievements.

During the Graduation ceremony Micheal, Anna and Lackson participated in a dress up competition. We were so proud to see Michael come first, while Anna and Lackson came 2nd and 3rd respectively…We are so proud of our kids. Thanks to Mama Sharon for teaching these little ones how to dress themselves up. Also in attendance to this graduation to show support was Aunt Getrude, Aunt Rebekah Mama Sharon, Aunt Alice and Uncle Situmbeko. Thank You for showing support to these children.
Thursday 7th December:

Sunday 10th December: The children participated in the youth Sunday activities at Bread of Life Church. They sang songs and acted in a Christmas play.

What a fun surprise! In addition to assorted goods (See Support Article), Zambia Airports Corporation Limited blessed Kwathu Children’s Home with a day trip to the Harry Mwanga Nkumbula International Airport!

The children were treated to cake, music, a visit with Santa and a tour of the airport. Thanks to FlySAA and the Captain, the children watched the airplane land from the apron AND were blessed with a tour of the plane!

Friday 15th December:

Every year Avani invites children from different child care facilities for a Christmas party where they receive different Christmas gifts. Last Friday 12 of Kwathu children were invited to join other kids from different homes. It was a fun filled party as they mingled with other children from other homes.

We would also like to thank other cooperating partners such as Shoprite, PEP Store, Barclays Bank etc for all the contribution they make to support our Homes. We wish them all a Merry Christmas and a profitable 2018.

Wednesday 20th December: Since last year, all members of staff at Kwathu are invited to a pizza evening with their families. This event has helped us get even closer as a family, not only in a working environment but also outside work. It’s so amazing to get to know each other’s family and interact in different ways.

This year was Extra-ordinary as we were joined by the Big Hippo Love, Arts of Tea, Windows into Africa and family Held. The Kwathu family is indeed growing bigger.

We were entertained by a Cultural Dance Group.

Saturday 23rd December:

The gospel is the center of our Ministry. We are always grateful to share the love of Christ to others. We are grateful to our friends Anita & Heiko for reaching out to Kwathu orphanage. We also took this opportunity to contributing baby items.

Anita took time off her busy schedule to spoil the kids with some shopping and Hungry Lion treat. Thank you so much for your support.

Monday 25th December:

Kwathu Children’s Home celebrated their Christmas as a family. This was a day of sharing our love and care for each other. We thank God for the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Support:

On this day we received visitors from Zambia Airports Cooperation Limited and we were blessed with a huge donation of assorted household goods including food, clothes, laundry material and school supplies. In Ms. Sikaulu’s (Communications & Brand Manager) speech she emphasized on their pride as ZACL in empowering the under privileged in our society. They have made and continued to make consented efforts in order to create a difference in the lives of children who live in disparaging circumstances.

We would like to thank the Zambia Airports Cooperation Limited for their support it gives us so much encouragement when partners like ZACL come on board to help improve the lives of these children.

A big thank you to Arts of Tea and Big Hippo Love for your cooperation and support toward this event.

Thank you Tendeka e.V Augsburg|Germany for the Christmas parcels

Kwathu Children’s Home would like to wish everyone a Happy, Blessed and Productive 2018

“And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.”
