January 2018 Update

Deuteronomy 30:3-5

God, your God, will restore everything you lost; he’ll have compassion on you; he’ll come back and pick up the pieces from all the places where you were scattered. No matter how far away you end up, God, your God, will get you out of there and bring you back to the land your ancestors once possessed. It will be yours again. He will give you a good life and make you more numerous than your ancestors.

Education

We are pleased to inform everyone that the 2018 academic year has begun after a one month delay in re-opening schools due to a cholera outbreak in the country.

All our children have successfully returned to their respective schools and most of them have proceeded to the next grade.

We would like to congratulate Willard, Eustis and Gertrude for successfully passing the examinations that they sat for last year. Eustis has qualified to go into his 10th Grade while Willard has scooped a place for his 8th Grade. Gertrude also managed to secure a place for her 10th Grade.

We are really proud of them as the examinations where highly competitive and we surely foresee a successful academic testimony from them.

Francis has since started a skills Training program in Power and Electric with a named skills training center within Livingstone City. This is in a bid to equip him with a skill as we prepare him for reintegration

Feeding Program:

Projects:

We are pleased to inform you that the shelter is fully complete and is currently in use. The shelter’s main purpose is to be used for the feeding program. This project was initiated because in the past, the children would have their meals in anywhere around the home premises and also they were having their meals in the scorching sun, We were also worried with the rain season so we decided that we create a more conducive and dinning like environment for them. Special thanks go to Gina for the link to the sponsors of this project. May God richly bless you

Support:

We are so grateful to everyone who offered and showed support to the Kwathu Ministry last year and all the years it has been in existence. We are not an island and every contribution made by everyone had brought us this far. It’s with so much sincerity that we say THANK YOU wholeheartedly for being part of the change we wish to impact on these young lives. May God reward you greatly.

A special thanks to Rebekah who stepped out in faith and donated school materials for the community school. We are so grateful for her kind heart and desire to see these little beautiful souls get quality education.

This month Rosa Berger contributed funds to the Kwathu Free Haven School for the general upkeep and running of the school. Thank you so much Rosa Berger and we look forward to working with you more as partners.

Kwathu Feeding Program

The feeding program has been running successfully for over a year now. The success of this project has been determined by the number of children attending classes. We believe that learning on an empty stomach yields bad results. This is why we provide meals for all the 225 children and some community mothers. We provide both breakfast and lunch which translates to 450 meals a day from Monday through Thursday.

A contribution of any of the following will be highly appreciated:

  • A bag of mealie meal
  • Sugar
  • Cooking Oil
  • Pounded groundnut
  • Cabbage
  • Eggs
